Buddhist/Hindu Circuits

Each of the suggested itineraries below is of 7 days / 6 nights duration and can be modified to suit your preferences.

 

SACRED MOUNTAINS – Himachal with a Buddhist twist

Sightseeing in Delhi and drive to Chandigarh (5 hrs) and onto Revalsar (Tsopema) (4 hrs). Continue through scenic hills with special stops at beautiful valleys and monasteries of Bir, Palampur and Dharamsala (2-4 hrs each leg). Spend 2 nights in McLeoganj, where the Dalai Lama resides. Descend to Simla (6 hrs); live the flavor of the British Raj and more before returning.

 

THE MIDDLE WAY – A deep dive to India’s Buddhist centers

Sightseeing in Delhi and drive to McLeodganj; Dalai Lama’s residence (overnight). Drive to Guru Rinpoche’s cave at Tsopema (5 hrs) and return to Delhi (10 hrs). Fly to Bodh Gaya (2 hrs) and take a train to Sarnath (4 hrs) before flying back to Delhi. Optionally (for longer trips) road journeys from Varanasi (Sarnath) to Kushinagar and Lumbini can be arranged.

 

STUNNING TEMPLES – Discover India as a land of true liberation

Sightseeing in Delhi and drive to Agra (4 hrs) to reach by evening. Taj, Fort, Shopping and on to the fort city Gwalior (3 hrs). Onto Khajuraho, the land of Kamasutra (4 hrs); temple sculptures only found here in the world. An enchantingly liberating sight!

Drive across to Varanasi (overnight) – a city that will either shock you or liberate you! Purify yourself in the Ganges river, witness the famous Aarti on her banks and discover the narrow streets of this 5000 year old temple town. Return to Delhi by air.
